WHY BOYCOTT PALM OIL

The environmental emergency On average, the Rainforest is destroyed at a rate of 300 football fields per hour, in palm oil production.  Wet, swampy rainforests are drained and cleared to make way for oil palm plantations. As they dry, their peat filled soils release large amounts of methane, a greenhouse gas that has a global warming impact 23 times greater than CO2.  In Indonesia alone, the carbon emissions resulting from rapid deforestation (mainly a result of palm oil production), account for a greater percentage of global carbon emissions, than that of  all the cars, planes, trucks, buses and trains in the U.S. combined.  Palm oil production is known to be one of the greatest contributers to global climate change, as well as a chilling and serious devastation of our planet overall

"SUSTAINABLE" PALM OIL?

There have been many claims of sustainable or eco friendly palm oil available on the market.  Unfortunately, at this time, there is simply no reliable organization for certifying sustainable palm oil.  The R. S. P. O. (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm), is the organization certifying nearly all so-called sustainable palm oil at this point.  The R. S. P. O. has been criticized for enormous corruption, consumer deception,  and dishonesty by numerous human rights, environmental, and wildlife organizations.  An open letter of protest from 80 organizations, in 31 Countries, is urging the R. S. P. O. to stop the "greenwash", and false certification.  Sadly, we aknowledge the evidence that the R. S. P. O. has been formed, at least in part, to promote further sales of palm oil, working hand in hand with the palm oil industry itself.  While these claims may seem extreme, numerous accounts of this corruption can be found  at the link below.

Unfortunately, sustainable palm oil is simply not available on the market at this time. We will continue to speak out, and encourage all humanitarian activists, environmentalists, and animal lovers to avoid ALL palm oil.
